Throughout high school, I began to pursue many things that fueled my day. Cross Country, reading, and writing were some of the activities that I enjoyed the most.

I have read dozens of books in high school and slowly drifted to watching news and browsing through Quora.

In the summer of my Sophomore year of high school, a few of my friends encouraged me to tryout for Cross-Country. At first, I was afraid to start running because of my preconceived notion that I would faint if I run too fast.

I almost threw up during my first race.

I was afraid of finishing last. Afraid that I would get lost in the woods. Luckily, my coach advised me to keep pushing and conquer my fear.

Sometimes, it is asking help from others that can improve your life.

In the weeks and months leading up to Championships, I began to improve my time and successfully won my conference.

I worked on my passion everyday and kept showing up, even on Sundays.

You see, had I not conquered my fear and pushed every day, I would have regretted it the rest of my life.

How are you working on your passion?

Every now and then, we hear follow your passion. If my passion is watching Netflix and partying, will that pay the bills?

We have too many desires and we constantly chase instant gratification.

To work on your passion,

Be consistent.

Whether your passion is playing the guitar, writing, reading, or any activities that you enjoy, be consistent.

Practice every day.

Start with 30 minutes and increase it gradually. In a few weeks, your passion will become a habit.

Be patient.

In an era where there is a constant updates, we want the results NOW. We want to run the NYC marathon in a month, but never completed a marathon before.

It is better to lower your expectations from the get-go than be irritated.

When you feel the ability to crush everything that is in front of you, be patient. It is just dopamine and will only last for a couple hours.

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Recently, I began to journal my daily activities and I found writing to be a skill that I enjoy.

I felt calm, peace, and joy when I write. It almost felt like I was creating something that has life.

Take a small action towards your passion today and I assure you will start separating yourself from everyday people.
